poor soundproofinglimited minibar
i paid a premium for what was supposed to be a high-end experience. i found that the soundproofing was shockingly poor, especially considering the price point. i could hear every footstep and conversation from the room above. also, the minibar selection was quite limited and uninspired. it lacked variety and reminded me of a missed opportunity to offer local or unique items. a wider selection would certainly improve the overall experience

the hotel maintains a beautiful and tasteful decor. the hotel features a very distinct aroma that is pleasing. our room was spacious and well-equipped, with a very comfortable bed (i really enjoyed it). haymarket station is a short walk away, so it was easy to get to the city center.
upon arrival the following morning, there were no tables available. i waited for ten minutes, but there was no communication from the staff. a staff member tried to enter my room at 5:50 am on the second night, which woke me up.

The hotel staff were generally agreeable. Alexander stood out in my memory as doing what was needed.
I ended up across the road in a room reminded me of a budget option. it lacked any charm. i heard normal noise from other rooms like showers. Not what i expected at this price point. it's more like a decently priced 3 star place.
